My First Robosoccer

Its been bugging my mind for sometime now that even after going for so many robotics workshops, I haven't yet entered any robotics competition. So when my cousin asked me to come to TKM for their fest, my eyes quickly got stuck on the event 'roboleague'. The best thing about it was, we did not require any initial investment as we already had all the components. So me and Naveen got working on the bots and named them Lionel (striker) and Iker (goal keeper) respectively. In the end we got the 2nd prize and here's how the events unfolded.

Group A Group B

-SCT1 -CET1
-SCT2 -CET2
-TKMCE -GECB (thats us)

Game 1: (GECB Vs CET1)

In this game, we couldn't use Lionel as the other team's bot was also in the same operating frequency. So it was all upto Iker. After playing for a couple of minutes, the battery died and we were forced to call a time out. The remaining portion of the game was hell. Our wires kept getting disconnected, I was bleeding profusely after getting a cut in my finger and Iker wasn't responding properly. So needless to say, we lost 3-1 (yeah...we managed to score in between all this!)

Game 2: (GECB Vs CET2)

Our wires were connected, our dc source was working perfectly and we were in a better state of mind altogehter. The opposition had a robot which was quite tiny compared to ours. So whenever we started the game from the center, we would drag the ball along with the other bot on to the goal post. But their robot was more agile and managed to score quite a lot of goals too. But in the end we won 13-7 and we were through to the semi finals.

Game 3: (GECB Vs SCT1)

This time we were up against 2 of the best bots we'd ever seen. Both of our bots took the field and an exciting game began. We scored 2 goals out of sheer luck. Then problems began to arise for the opponent's bot and they were forced to take a time out. After their time out, their goal keeper got stuck in the goal net and we easily scored another one. In the end, they managed to score one goal and by the the time was up. So we made it to the finals winning the semi 3-1.

Game 4: The final (GECB Vs SCT2)

We were not really hopeful going into the final as we had seen the other team's rise to the finals. The game began tightly with each team scoring a goal. but after a couple of minutes, things started getting out of hand. the other guys were just too good. So in the end we lost 9-2 and won the 2nd place.

In the end, it was a very good performance by us considering this was our first attempt. This win will serve as a huge inspiration for us to go for many such events!

The first impression

They say the first impression is the best impression. I disagree. The first impression of a person may be completely different from the actual person he/she is (trust me,i know).

Thinking back on all the wrong first impressions i've had,i cannot forget the first day at college. Most of my clasmates were total strangers. Now,looking back i cannot help but laugh at the first impressions of all my buddies. Here are some examples. :-)

-venki (the north idian kid whom i've seen once or twice at KK sir's cls)

-karthik (the guy's totaly silent and keeps to himself)

-naveen (this guy is very serious.Must be a serious fellow)

-anand n (hey...i know this guy from somewhere...but where??? (PS:we both studied in the same skool but i had no knowledge of the fact until we became classmates))

-irphan (he's the most studios fellow in the whole cls)

-sahil (a repeater for sure..!!)

and the list goes on. And as all s4 ECians will certify, most of the first impressions i've had are totally baseless and couldn't be farther from the truth. There's more but i cant seem to recollect much.

So dont follow ur first impression. Know a person fully before making a judgement.

Until next time...

Christening my blog

Ok. I've started my blog and i've even posted my first post. The one thing missing is a name. I'm thinking of something catchy and different. Been thinking for a while now but havent come up with an appropriate title yet. These are the ones i thought of so far

-hakuna matata (too childish)
-itz ma lyf (too common n 2 obvious)
-the dark knight (ok i guess)

So as u can see,i've reached nowhere. So it would be really helpful if u suggest a name for my blog.

Cheers!!

And we're going on a tour!!

After weeks of confusion and mayhem,we are finally going for a tour.Just got confirmation and needless to say I'm super excited. Seems like all those strikes and requests didn't go in vain after all. Agreed it kinda tarnished our image in front of teachers and staff. But sometimes in life , you have to take that one extra step to make things done. And I think we did nothing more than that.

So let me get packing. :-)
